If you're noticing more lash fallout than usual as the weather cools down, you're not imagining things. Each year around this time, lash clients everywhere experience the same thing what we call the fall lash shed.
But don’t panic it’s completely normal, and with the right care (and a few of our favorite products), you can keep your lash game strong all season long.
What Is the Fall Lash Shed?
Just like how we tend to lose more hair in the fall, your lashes follow a seasonal growth cycle too. When temperatures drop and daylight decreases, your body naturally adjusts its hair growth patterns including your lashes.
This means more lashes may enter the telogen phase, or “shedding phase,” which can lead to increased lash loss especially noticeable if you wear lash extensions.
Why Lash Extensions Seem to Fall Out More
If you're wearing lash extensions, it might feel like they’re falling out faster than usual. But don’t worry it’s not the extensions, and it’s definitely not your lash stylist. Your natural lashes are simply shedding, and the extensions come off with them (as they’re supposed to).
This phase usually lasts a few weeks, but there are some easy ways to protect your natural lashes and maintain your extensions.
How to Care for Your Lashes During Fall Shed
1. Cleanse Daily with Rose Lash Bath
Keeping your lash line clean is key especially during seasonal changes when oil, debris, and allergens can build up. Our Rose Water Lash Bath is gentle, hydrating, and specially formulated for lash extensions. It soothes the lash line while removing dirt and oil that can weaken the follicles.
Use it daily with our soft cleansing brush to promote healthy lash retention.
2. Hydrate Inside and Out
Drink plenty of water and consider using a humidifier at home to fight the dry fall air that can make lashes brittle.
3. Strengthen with Grande Lash Serum
Fall is the perfect time to give your natural lashes a little extra love.We recommend Grande Lash Serum, a lash extension safe formula that supports stronger, longer looking lashes from the root. Use it consistently at night for best results!
4. Book Regular Fills
Since more lashes are shedding, you might need fills more frequently during this time. If you normally come in every 3 weeks, try every 2 for a little while just until your lashes balance out.
5. Be Gentle
Avoid rubbing your eyes, sleeping face down, or using oil based products near your eyes. The gentler you are, the longer your lashes will last natural or extended.
The Takeaway
The fall lash shed is totally natural and nothing to be afraid of. With the right care and products (like our Rose Water Lash Bath and Grande Lash Serum), you can support your lash health and keep your extensions looking flawless through the season.
