And that pretty much sums up Monique’s approach to beauty. From perfectly lifted natural lashes to brows that finally cooperate and smooth skin from sugaring, Monique has become one of our go to girls at My Little Beautique for those “I still look like me, just better” services. And her love for beauty started long before she ever stepped into a salon.

From DIY Face Masks to the Beauty Industry

Monique has been in the beauty industry for eight years, but some of her earliest beauty memories are of watching her grandma take the time to pamper herself.

That love of beauty and self care stuck with her. She was the girl making her own DIY face masks at home, so it probably isn't surprising that she eventually found herself working in aesthetics.

Her first job in the industry was actually working for a plastic surgeon, where she got to see firsthand how much aesthetics can affect the way someone feels about themselves. Today, one of her favorite parts of the job has nothing to do with the actual service.

It’s the women she gets to meet. She loves connecting with clients, talking about life and sharing experiences and seeing how something as simple as a beauty appointment can have someone leaving with a smile on their face.

Her Favorite? A Korean Lash Lift

If Monique had to choose just one service, it would be a Korean lash lift. Rather than adding extensions, a lash lift works with your own natural lashes to give them a lifted, more noticeable appearance. Monique loves the way a lift can open up the eyes and instantly make someone look more awake and refreshed.

But here's something she wishes more clients knew:

Lash lifts are NOT one size fits all.

Processing time can be different from one client to the next, and even the size and shape of the shield used during the service should be customized based on your natural lashes and eye shape. Those little details can make a huge difference in the finished result.

Brows Can Change Everything

Brows are another area where Monique loves a good transformation.

Brow lamination can help tame stubborn hairs that never seem to stay where you want them, while also helping thinner brows appear fuller and more polished.

But Monique doesn't believe in giving everyone the same brows.

Before shaping, she talks with each client about their brow goals and looks at their existing hair, symmetry and natural brow bone. The brow bone helps guide the shape so the finished brows complement the client's features rather than fighting against them. Because sometimes a really good brow shape is all you need to make your whole face feel pulled together.

Monique loves trying different workout studios around LA, with mat Pilates and Bunda currently at the top of her list. She's also a serious matcha girly and is always on the hunt for the best matcha in LA. And when matcha isn't involved, sushi probably is.
